Why You Need a Plumber to Install Your Hot Tub
When you glance over all the hot tubs on sale in your area, you begin to get glassy-eyed at the thought of sinking into your own hot tub and feeling the jets whirl around you. However, before you buy one, you should know that you are going to need to hire a plumber, and possibly a concrete contractor. Here is why.
Putting the Hot Tub Indoors
Putting a hot tub inside a house is not unheard of, but most people place it outside. If your heart is set on installing the tub indoors, be sure that the room in which you install the tub has lots of room for the tub and room to walk around it. A plumber will be sure to route fresh new plumbing into this room and into the tub.
Putting the Hot Tub Outside
Most people will put the hot tub outside, usually in the backyard. If you already have a pool, you might install the hot tub close by. A hot tub requires a decent flow of water. It's possible to get water from a garden hose, but it is not recommended because of the impurities in the hose's water. Instead, running plumbing lines from your house to the hot tub is a good idea.
A plumber can run the new plumbing lines from the foundation of your home to the hot tub, and then your hot tub can get water from the main tap line. If you have the plumber install a water softener at the same time, then the water that fills the hot tub will not only be very good for your skin and hair, but it will also be very good for the plumbing and jets of the hot tub. Hard water can cause heavy limescale and/or calcification to build; however, this is not a problem when you use softened water.
Making Sure There Is a Stable Foundation
If you are not going to install the hot tub above ground, it will need a stable and solid foundation. This requires a concrete slab, which in turn requires a concrete contractor. Figure out where you are going to place your new hot tub before you purchase it. Then hire the concrete contractor to install a slab on the very spot you intend to place the tub.
